My last semester of college I needed a few extra general education credits to graduate & my criteria for picking classes came down to: not before noon, not at night, & not on a Friday. Like, duh. I ended up taking a Women's Lit class which I was completely unexcited for because at the time I was fully convinced feminism was all about angry lesbians that don't shave. During said class I read the short story The Yellow Wallpaper & the dingy, dirty yellow color of this dress immediately reminded me of the old yellow wallpaper from the story. Which I love.

I seriously love your style and your blog but I can't help but disagree with your comment about feminism. I couldn't think of a more ridiculous and ignorant thing to say. I'm not lesbian, and I shave(which, doesn't really have anything to do with being a feminist and everything to do with personal choice), but I am a feminist. I would hope that considering the fact that your reader base is predominantly female you would be in support of a continuing generation of women fighting to keep their basic rights.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree. But you must have missed the part where this was written in past tense. Meaning those were my thoughts BEFORE taking the class & knowing anything at all about feminism. Also, just in general, please don't ever take my sarcastic tone too seriously.
DeleteOoh you're right, my apologies. I totally misread your comment. I just get a little worked up over this subject especially! So sorry! x
DeleteNo worries!

You look fantastic and amazing dress. I need to read this book
ReplyDeletePlus I totally joke that's what feminists ate like that ha ha ha although I AM a feminist and not at all angry of lesbian and do occasionally shave my legs- but it's funny how stereotypes stick even though you know their false :)
Thank you for getting my terrible humor. I'm a feminist as well, & I think fundamentally always have been, but at the time was just too ignorant or careless to understand the term. Which only shows my stupidity considering I was about to graduate college. Ha.
DeleteYou look amazing, I love the dress!x

The dress is cute and I especially like that your beanie hat is not neon! Peeps keep trying that as a lazy way to pimp an outfit xx
ReplyDeleteWhoa WHAT the fuck, I just finished reading The Yellow Wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteAnd glad that the class changed how you viewed feminism! Sometimes I'm like, maybe there's a large number of people who support equality but have just been fed anti-feminist bullshit. And then I read something on the Good Men Project and kinda just... cry and throw shit.
I think that's exactly what it is!
Deleteyou just look great , love the hair sweetie , amazing put together look , cute dress 2 .
