As a teenager, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" was hands down one of my favorite books. I'll even go as far as to say it changed my outlook on life. So when I found out they were filming the movie in my city & the restaurant scenes in one of my dad's restaurants no less, I was definitely psyched. I'm hardly celebrity obsessed (although I'm a huge HP fan so of course I was excited to see Emma Watson & kept creepily staring at how fucking gorgeous she is), but I'm from a small town so something like this is exciting regardless because, you know, it's not everyday they turn your favorite book into a movie & you get to be a part of it. Look for me in the restaurant scenes. I played a waitress & my hair was still two-toned ombre/I had bangs & it sticks out pretty well. To be honest, I hate being on camera.. I'm hella awkward & only did it because they were down a waitress. Consequently, my favorite part of filming was sneaking away to sit & talk to author/director, Stephen Chbosky. He's seriously one of the coolest, most down to earth people ever. & I think it's rare to meet someone who's a big deal & doesn't suck. Because really, I feel like everyone sucks anymore. He grew up in Pittsburgh too, & it's absolutely inspiring to see what someone from a small town, my small town, did with their life. & speaking with him about the book, which I & so many other people relate with so strongly, & realizing how personal it is to him was cool. "Cool" is such an over-used word, but it was really just so cool. An experience for sure. The Pittsburgh premiere was tonight & if you're a fan of the book, the movie certainly won't disappoint. Definitely go see it! *Insert cheesy infinite quote here*
